Boys and Girls Clubs of the Nez Perce Tribe, with units at Lapwai and Kamiah, will be recipients of the 48th annual Seaport River Run.
The 2026 Seaport will be April 25, with 5K and 10K walking and running alternatives from Clarkston’s Swallows Park to Lewiston’s Hells Gate State Park. The Seaport River Run is the valley’s first “run for fun” event, held annually since 1978.
A popular feature of past years will return. Free post-race jet boat travel from Hells Gate back to Swallows Park will be provided, a donation by Snake River Adventures.
The tribe’s clubs were chosen from six applications for funds.
Funds will help underwrite a 2026 Teen Day for club members and guests. The clubs’ executive director, Victoria L. Konen, said teen day will be “an engaging and inclusive event featuring various activities aimed at fostering community connections and promoting positive social interactions among teens.”
Plans include free meals and snacks, a variety of games and activities, guest speakers by area leaders and mentors and a basketball mini-tournament. “We believe that providing structured activities and opportunities for connection will help foster a sense of belonging and community within Lapwai and Kamiah,” Konen said.
The clubs’ mission is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” The clubs’ buildings are at 104 Agency Road in Lapwai and 401 Idaho St. in Kamiah.
Konen said the clubs have 472 youth members in Lapwai and 86 in Kamiah.
The 2025 beneficiary was Clarkston EPIC, a volunteer-based coalition seeking prevention of substance abuse in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.
Some $154,000 in Seaport River Run proceeds have been distributed to Lewiston-Clarkston area organizations in the last 47 years. Entry forms for the 2026 event will be available at area sporting stores and athletic centers or online at bit.ly/seaport2026.
Seaport Sponsors are Lewiston Parks & Recreation, Art Beat, McVey Entertainment Group and the Lewiston Tribune.
